Session News #7: Return-to-work bill moves to the full House, COLA bill rejected

Apr 30, 2015

The House retirement committee today favorably reported House Bill 43 (Rep. LeBas) to the full House for consideration. This legislation would increase the earnings limit from 25% to 50% of the retirement benefit for a TRSL retiree who returns to work as a substitute classroom teacher.

In other action, House Bill 42 (Rep. Jones) failed to advance out of committee. It would have provided a 1.5% permanent benefit increase (also known as a COLA) to eligible retirees and beneficiaries of the four state retirement systems.
