When Can I Retire?
For those who first became members of a state public retirement system on or after January 1, 2011 (includes 2011 Plan Members and 2015 Plan Members).
Each of TRSL’s retirement plans – the Regular Plan for teachers or Plan B for school food service employees – has different retirement eligibility requirements. Refer to the minimum eligibility requirements below to find out when you can retire.
2011 Plan Members
(for membership between January 1, 2011 and June 30, 2015)
Regular Plan (2.5% benefit factor):
- Age 60 with 5 years of service credit*
- Any age with 20 years of service credit* (actuarially reduced)
Plan B (2.0% benefit factor):
- Age 60 with 5 years of service credit*
- Age 55 with 30 years of service credit
*Excludes military service purchased after September 10, 1982
2015 Plan Members
(for membership on or after July 1, 2015)
Regular Plan (2.5% benefit factor):
- Age 62 with 5 years of service credit*
- Any age with 20 years of service credit* (actuarially reduced)
Plan B (2.0% benefit factor):
- Age 62 with 5 years of service credit*
- Any age with 20 years of service credit* (actuarially reduced)
*Excludes military service purchased after September 10, 1982
